‘Ode to Flowers’ Melds Classics & Contemporary in High Art Form

Chinese Dance Theater Performances September 19, 2009

Rochester, MN. August 27, 2009 – Jasmine flowers welcoming spring. Bamboo stalks bending with the wind. Plum blossoms enduring the bitter snow. Peonies displaying their special meaning in life.

These flowers come to life in a Chinese dance production 7:00p.m. on September 19 at the Mayo Civic Center Presentation Hall in Rochester.  “Ode to Flowers” will pay tribute to flowers that hold special meaning in Chinese classics and artistic traditions.  The Chinese Dance Theater (CDT), part of the Chinese American Association of Minnesota (CAAM), proudly presents a 2009 program that boasts dozens of dancers, ranging in age from ages four to fifty.

“Ode to Flowers” is an ambitious production, one that showcases a high form of Chinese culture in a harmonious blend of dancing, painting and poetry.  Unlike previous CDT shows, it will be a blend of classical Chinese and contemporary choreography. This touring production, originally presented to Twin Cities audiences, features dances never presented before in Rochester and surrounding area.

Tickets may be purchased at the Mayo Civic Center Box Office or Ticketmaster, buy on line at
